Russ Ortiz cut, Jon Link promoted

The Dodgers made the first move to shake up their bullpen Sunday, designating veteran Russ Ortiz for assignment and promoting Jon Link from triple-A Albuquerque.

Ortiz had a 10.29 ERA in six relief appearances. Link, whom the Dodgers acquired from the Chicago White Sox in the Juan Pierre trade, had a 6.23 in five appearances at Albuquerque.

Link, a 26-year-old right-hander, is in uniform at Dodger Stadium. He has not pitched in the major leagues.
