The new draft political district maps have lured another California lawmaker looking for a promotion to Congress: Assemblyman Jeff Miller (R-Corona) announced Tuesday that, unless the maps change dramatically, he will seek to represent a new congressional district centered in Riverside County.
‘Representing our area in Congress would be a great honor, but more importantly, it will give me the opportunity to work at the national level on creating jobs, reducing debt and protecting taxpayers,’ Miller said in a statement. He also announced the endorsement of state Sen. Bill Emmerson (R-Hemet).
Miller, a former Corona City Council member, was elected to the Assembly in 2008. In 2009, he was the lawmaker that former Assemblyman Michael Duvall (R-Yorba Linda) bragged to about his sexual conquests during a committee hearing, inadvertently speaking into an open microphone.
Duvall resigned when the tape was made public.
