Georgia Fifield, a radio actress best remembered for her roles in three programs that originated in Los Angeles in the early 1930s, died Wednesday in Lahue, Kauai. She was 84 and had retired with her husband to Hawaii in 1960.
In the days when some radio shows carried by such local stations as KNX and KHJ were also beamed across the nation, Miss Fifield was a regular on “Mr. and Mrs.” with Eddie Albert, played all three sustaining female roles on “Frank Watanabe and Archie,” and portrayed the matron on “Nobody’s Children.” The latter program involved film stars bringing orphans to KHJ’s studios where their stories were told over the air. Many were adopted by listeners.
Miss Fifield is survived by her husband, Taylor Trumbo, retired managing editor of The Times, two children, Gary Fifield and Phyllis Von Stroheim, and two grandchildren. There will be no services, Trumbo said.
