The company owns a 24.5% stake in Continental Cablevision, one of the nation’s leading cable-TV system operators. The transaction is subject to Continental’s being able to secure the necessary financing for a recapitalization plan under which the Boston-based cable company is offering $50 a share to repurchase 6.5 million of its 12.7 million shares. Dow Jones & Co. said it will sell 2 million of the 3.1 million shares of Continental stock that it purchased in 1981 for $25 a share, or a total of $78.8 million.
