By a 4-to-1 vote, San Marcos Unified School District trustees adopted a policy to exclude students with AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome) from the classroom, requiring that they receive instruction at home.
Trustee Peggy Rutherford argued unsuccessfully that the district should resolve each case individually.
