BRIEFLY : City Basketball Leagues Named

Sports Digest was compiled by David Morgan

With less than a week before the start of the season, basketball leagues in the City Section have finally been given official names.

The leagues were realigned after last season, but were named with single letters rather than full names. City officials left the final decision for a name to individual league managers, who voted at meetings last week.

“We changed leagues so much that we decided to let the league managers go ahead and rename them,” said Jim Cheffers, director of interscholastic athletics in the City Section.
