Bernice Trippet; Philanthropist, Braille Institute Auxiliary Founder

Bernice Trippet, founder of the Braille Institute Auxiliary 23 years ago and a volunteer and philanthropist for many Southland charities, has died of cancer in her Laguna Hills home.

Mrs. Trippet, widow of Oscar A. Trippet, an attorney who helped develop a rapid transit system for Los Angeles and a leading exponent of a major expansion at Los Angeles International Airport, was 75 when she died July 21.

She moved to Leisure World in Laguna Hills in 1969, two years after her husband’s death, and in Orange County added Saddleback Community Hospital to the list of agencies she served over the years.
