Creative Computer Applications said its earnings for the third quarter ended May 31 increased 60% to $164,942, or 2 cents a share, from a year earlier on a 41% increase in sales, to $1.7 million.
The Calabasas-based company, which makes equipment used by medical laboratories to record test results, attributed the increased sales to growing demand for Cyberlab, its main computer system. The company also benefited in the quarter from $71,000 in tax-loss carryforwards, which reduce taxes by deducting previous losses from current income. During the same quarter last year, it had $42,400 in tax-loss carryforwards.
During the first nine months of its fiscal year, Creative Computer’s earnings more than tripled, to $450,284, or 5 cents a share, while sales rose 54%, to $4.7 million.
