A home-built sailplane crashed in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains, killing its pilot. Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy Drew Basey said pilot Paul Cherry, 36, of Canyon Country was alone in the glider when it was towed aloft by an airplane from a field near Pearblossom Sunday afternoon.
