Federal agents arrested 14 people in the New Orleans area and accused them of planning to overthrow the government of Suriname. The 14 members of the mercenary group were charged with violating the U.S. Neutrality Act, which deals with armed overthrow of a foreign government. They allegedly planned to pose as financiers in order to take Suriname leader Desi Bouterse hostage, authorities said.
