‘Capitol’ Is Daytime’s Latest Lame Duck

“Search for Tomorrow” isn’t the only daytime soap going down the drain. CBS said Monday that “Capitol,” its serial about the lives of two families in Washington, has been canceled and will be replaced by a new drama about the lives of two families in Chicago.
“Capitol,” now in its fifth year, will end March 20. Its replacement, “The Bold and the Beautiful,” will begin March 23, the network said, although not necessarily in the same time slot.
The new series, created by William J. Bell and his wife, Lee Phillip Bell, is about two families “entwined in their personal relationships and in the glamorous world of fashion,” CBS said.
“The Bold and the Beautiful” will be taped in Los Angeles, as “Capitol” has been.
