Ted Sator, the disciplinarian ex-coach of the New York Rangers, became the third man this season to coach the struggling Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League, replacing Craig Ramsay.
In addition, Jerry Meehan, acting general manager since the dismissal of former general manager Scotty Bowman earlier this month, was named general manager by Seymour H. Knox III, Sabres’ co-owner.
Ramsay had taken over Nov. 5, when Bowman stepped down as coach. The Sabres have an NHL-worst record of 7-22-4.
