UC Irvine Women Defeat Pepperdine

UC Irvine forward Zalina Walton scored a game-high 18 points, and the Anteaters hung on for a 58-52 victory over Pepperdine Monday night at Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu.

Behind Walton’s 12 first-half points, Irvine took a 37-17 halftime lead.

But Pepperdine guard Stephanie Meneze, leading a full-court press that forced Irvine mistakes, engineered a second-half comeback that twice brought the Waves within two points.

But sophomore guard Kippie Brown hit four free throws down the stretch to seal the win for the Anteaters.
