West Germany’s Nazi Documentation Center has obtained U.N. lists of more than 30,000 war crime suspects and witnesses after seeking the information from the world body for more than 20 years, officials said. Director Alfred Streim said it will take the center at least a year to investigate information on the lists, which were compiled from 1944 to 1948 by the former U.N. War Crimes Commission. He declined to say who supplied the lists to his center. The lists drew renewed attention last year after reports that former U.N. Secretary General Kurt Waldheim was on one.
