Klima Has 3 Goals in Red Wings’ 4-3 Win

BOSTON —  Petr Klima scored his third goal of the game with eight seconds left in overtime Monday night to lift the Detroit Red Wings to a 4-3 National Hockey League victory over the Boston Bruins.

The victory was Detroit’s third straight, while the loss snapped a two-game Boston winning streak.

Boston took a 1-0 lead on Ray Bourque’s first goal of the night at 3:07 of the opening period. However, Detroit went in front on a pair of goals by Klima before the period ended.

After a scoreless second period, Detroit’s Gerard Gallant scored his 33rd goal on a power play at 11:09, and Boston’s Greg Johnston scored his 12th at 12:09, pulling Boston to 3-2.

With 1:21 left, Boston pulled goalie Bill Ranford for an extra skater. Ten seconds later, Bourque fired from the left point toward a crowd in front of the Detroit net. The puck hit Boston’s Keith Crowder and caromed past Red Wings goalie Glen Hanlon to tie the score, 3-3.
