Responding to an avalanche of fan mail, Lily Tomlin announced Friday that “The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe” will open in San Francisco this fall. The show, written and directed by Jane Wagner, runs through April 26 at the James Doolittle Theatre in Hollywood. Tomlin is then scheduled to go to Nashville to work with director Robert Altman on a sequel to his 1975 film “Nashville.”
