Heavy hitters from the last few weeks kept hammering at the box office over the weekend. Warner Bros.’ “Lethal Weapon” held the No. 1 gun, taking in $6.3 million at 1,420 screens. The only newcomer to sneak into the top five was Warners’ “Burglar,” which took in $4.5 million at 1,019 theaters--good for second place. Holdovers Orion’s “Platoon” ($3.8 million), New Line’s “Nightmare on Elm Street III” ($3.6 million) and Touchstone’s “Tin Men” ($3.5 million) all duked it out for third place. But another newcomer “Raising Arizona,” distributed by 20th Century Fox, earned a remarkable $17,004 per screen its opening weekend, totaling $357,089 at only 21 theaters.
