Local News in Brief : Group Seeks to Block 2 Proposed Rail Routes

More than 300 West San Fernando Valley residents attended a meeting Monday night to organize opposition to a proposed light rail line on Victory Boulevard.
Leaders of the West Valley Transit Coalition called the session at Calvert Street School in Woodland Hills in hopes of squelching two of five proposed east-west trolley routes.
Coalition leaders urged members to fight both the Victory route and a route that would follow Chandler and Burbank boulevards east of the San Diego freeway and Victory west of the freeway.
