OCEANSIDE — Mike Trager singled to cap a four-run, seventh-inning rally to give Oceanside High School a 10-9 victory over El Camino in a consolation game of the Goodman-Pirate baseball tournament Monday at Oceanside High.
“We’re off to a slow start, but our team always likes to beat (cross-town rival) El Camino,” Oceanside Coach Dave Barrett said.
Oceanside (1-4) committed seven errors to help El Camino (1-4) take a 9-6 lead into the bottom of the seventh. But a sacrifice fly by David Chavez, an RBI single by Dwayne Wilson and an error helped Oceanside tie the game.
With two outs, Trager got his game-winning hit.
The tournament, which has been delayed by rain, is scheduled to be completed Thursday, when Fallbrook meets San Pasqual for the championship.
