MONTREAL — Harness racing driver Raymond Gendron, charged with fraud in excess of $1,000 in an unspecified incident at Blue Bonnets race track two years ago, has withdrawn from competition until the matter is dealt with by the courts, the track announced.
Quebec provincial police made the charge in January, but it became public only this week.
Blue Bonnets president Andre Marier said Tuesday that Gendron, 40, had decided to withdraw.
A preliminary hearing in sessions court for Gendron has been scheduled for May 21 on a charge that pertains to events “detrimental to the public attending races at Blue Bonnets” that occurred between June 1 and Dec. 31, 1985.
