Radical Feminism Endangers Order, Dutch Cardinal Says

AMSTERDAM — Cardinal Adrianus Simonis, leader of Holland’s 5.5 million Roman Catholics, said Friday that radical feminism is endangering social and religious order.
Simonis, who is archbishop of Utrecht, published his views in an article in the German edition of the Vatican daily L’Osservatore Romano titled “Mary and Feminism.”
He said that by fighting the correct ties of dependency between men and women, radical feminists threatened to damage the fundamental unities of family and marriage.
Simonis, who has been involved in several civil law suits stemming from his criticism of homosexuals and opposition to the idea of female priests, accused some radical feminists of overvaluing their sex by feminizing God and deifying woman.
