Top 4 Seeds Gain Racquetball Quarterfinals

Brian Hawkes of Fountain Valley won his first- and second-round matches Friday in the 14th Ektelon Outdoor National racquetball championships at Orange Coast College.
Hawkes, 23, the tournament’s defending champion and top seed, will play Dave Genevay of Yorba Linda in today’s quarterfinals, which begin at 11 a.m.
Other players who advanced Friday include: Dan Southern, the No. 2-seeded player from Huntington Beach; No. 3 Kevin Booth of Newport Beach; No. 4 Mark Harding of Newport Beach, and brothers Dave and Gregg Peck of El Paso.
Semifinals will begin upon conclusion of the quarterfinals, and finals will begin Sunday at 2 p.m.
