American Brands has agreed to sell its Sunshine Biscuits unit to privately held G. F. Industries, the marketer of Granny Goose snack foods, for cash. The companies declined to disclose details of the deal. Earlier in the month, American Brands successfully fended off E-II Holdings’ takeover attempt by buying it for $2.7 billion. American Brands had put Sunshine Biscuits and its Andrew Jergens unit on the block before the E-II battle began.
