Obituaries : Michael Levee Jr.; Agent, Producer

Michael C. Levee Jr., a longtime Hollywood talent agent and producer who helped form the film division of Mattel Toys that produced the 1972 classic “Sounder,” died Saturday.

He was 67 and died at UCLA Medical Center of cancer.

Educated at Stanford University, Levee joined his father’s M. C. Levee Agency after service in World War II.

With now-producer Ray Stark, he then formed his own agency and later joined MCA, where he became vice president in charge of the Music Corp. of America’s TV division. Next he went with Creative Management Agency before teaming with Robert Radnitz in Radnitz/Mattel.

His other credits include “The Black Bird,” “Casey’s Shadow” and “Slow Dancing in the Big City.”

Survivors include his wife, Barbara, a brother and two daughters.
