Capistrano Valley Keeps Top Spot

Capistrano Valley High School remained the top-ranked team in the Orange County Sportswriters’ Assn. prep basketball poll despite a narrow, one-point victory over Irvine last week.
The Cougars (20-4) have 15 straight victories since losing to Bishop Carroll, 90-75, in Washington Dec. 22.
In the featured game of the week, third-ranked Mater Dei travels to La Puente at 7:30 Wednesday night to meet Bishop Amat for the Angelus League title.
