Milwaukee Brewer pitcher Teddy Higuera agreed to a one-year contract, avoiding an arbitration hearing that was scheduled for Wednesday.
The contract is for $1,025,000, an increase of $690,000 from last year.
Higuera had asked for $1.25 million and the Brewers had offered $900,000.
Pitcher Sid Fernandez and the New York Mets avoided an arbitration hearing when they agreed to a one-year contract worth $580,000.
Fernandez, who made $308,000 last season, had asked for $597,000 while the Mets had offered $558,000.
