A Palestinian youth was shot to death in a clash with Israeli soldiers near the West Bank town of Tulkarm as unrest continued in the occupied areas. The army said it was investigating the death of Nabil Lateef Mahmoud Abu Khalil, 19, as well as that of Fuad Tarazi, 17, of Gaza City, who reportedly died of injuries sustained during a beating while in army custody. The army also confirmed the death of Ayman Akel, 15, who suffered injuries apparently caused by beating, but said the incident was still under investigation.
