In the latest chapter of the continuing saga involving the search for a home port for the battleship Missouri, Rep. Duncan Hunter disclosed that San Diego is now under consideration. The El Cajon Republican said he discussed the matter in a meeting with Navy Secretary James Webb. Speculation about the future of the Missouri began last week when Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii) said he had been assured by high-level Navy sources that controversial plans to home-port the battleship in San Francisco had been scrapped and that the ship would be sent to Hawaii’s Pearl Harbor. Inouye is not saying who told him that and the Navy denies it.
