Britain’s House of Commons overrode Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and voted by a surprisingly wide margin to approve television broadcasts of its often unruly and occasionally rude legislative proceedings. The 318-264 vote allows a select committee to be established to organize a six-month trial run in which the proceedings will be telecast to the nation. The telecasts could begin with the opening of Parliament’s next session in November, one member of Parliament said.
