Boys’ 4-A Soccer Playoffs : Fountain Valley Offense Is Barren in Semifinal, 3-0
- Share via
The Fountain Valley High School boys’ soccer season came to an abrupt end Tuesday, and the Barons can blame Newbury Park goalkeeper Richard Bengston.
Bengston stopped 17 shots in recording his eighth shutout to lift the Panthers to a 3-0 victory over the Barons in a Southern Section 4-A semifinal at Fountain Valley.
The victory moved Newbury Park (19-5-1), the Marmonte League runner-up, into Friday’s 4-A final against Royal at Gahr High School. Fountain Valley, which finished second to Marina in the Sunset League, finished 16-6-1.
