THE PREPS : Softball Roundup : Moeller Pitches 1-Hitter as Mater Dei Wins, 2-1

Amy Moeller pitched a one-hitter as Mater Dei High School defeated Bishop Montgomery, 2-1, Thursday in a Angelus League softball game at Bishop Montgomery.

Moeller (5-1) struck out seven and walked six. She allowed only a one-out single by Danielle Sawyer in the third inning.

St. Joseph 7, Rosary 0--Lisa Fernandez (16-0) pitched a one-hitter, striking out 17, for St. Joseph (17-0, 5-0) at home.

In the Century League:

Villa Park 6, Santa Ana 0-- Chris Redman (8-5) pitched a two-hitter for Villa Park at Memorial Park in Santa Ana.

Canyon 3, Foothill 2 (13 innings)--Dalynne Large had a run-scoring single in the top of the 13th to give Canyon (12-8, 3-1) the victory at Foothill.

In the Empire League:

El Dorado 2, Loara 1--Jennifer Dinicola scored the winning run on a passed ball for the Golden Hawks (13-4, 3-1) at El Dorado.

In the Garden Grove League:

Garden Grove 1, Los Amigos 0 (8 innings)--Stephanie Smith pitched a one-hitter, striking out 12, for the victory at Garden Grove (14-8, 7-1).

In the Orange League:

Brea-Olinda 1, Savanna 0 (9 innings)--With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Natalie Stevens singled in pinch-runner Aimee McDaniel for the victory at Brea-Olinda.

Western 5, Anaheim 0--Dawn Fowler (4-2) gave up five hits and struck out nine for the victory at Western.

In the Pacific Coast League:

Trabuco Hills 1, Laguna Hills 0--Amy De La Cruz scored on a passed ball at Laguna Hills.
