It really doesn’t matter what performance Martin Bernheimer is reviewing so long as he provides us with vintage Bernheimeranian verbiage--which he did April 7 in reviewing two works of Lee Hoiby. To wit: “a melismatic purr,” “the televisionary culinary auteur ,” “the Leitmotivic fioriture ,” “giddy parlando . . . soupy Sprechgesang ,” “hemidemisemiquavering opera.”
