Community College Roundup : Saddleback Scores in Seventh to Win in Softball

Sara Murillo scored with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to give Saddleback a 3-2 Orange Empire Conference softball victory Friday over Rancho Santiago at Saddleback.
Murillo scored when a shallow fly ball dropped into left field. The Roadrunners improved to 21-13 and remained in second place at 8-6.
In other Orange Empire Conference softball games:
Fullerton 2, Golden West 0--Pitchers Kristin Jacobs (26-7) and Christy Richmond combined for a two-hit shutout to lead Fullerton at home. Fullerton (29-10, 14-1) scored two unearned runs in the sixth. Golden West is 7-8 in conference play.
Cypress 2, Orange Coast 0--Colleen Moore came on in the fifth and bailed Cypress out of a second-and-third, no-out situation to earn the save. She allowed two hits and struck out six, picking up for winning pitcher Sally Dugas, who allowed five hits in four innings. Rose Ferrante led Cypress (28-11, 7-7), driving in both runs on a double and a sacrifice fly.
In South Coast Conference men’s volleyball:
Golden West 3, Palomar 1--Outside hitter Lane Moore led the Rustlers with 16 kills as Golden West (12-6 in conference) scored a 15-13, 15-8, 12-15, 15-7 victory.
