Products Research & Chemical, a Glendale maker of coatings, seals and other specialty chemicals, said its fiscal second-quarter profit rose 9% to $2.21 million from $2.03 million a year earlier.
The earnings gain for the quarter that ended March 31 came on a 25% increase in sales to $30.4 million from $24.3 million.
PRC said the improvement was led by “very strong” sales to commercial aerospace customers and a sharp rise in sales of sealants used in construction.
For the first half of its fiscal year, PRC’s profit climbed 9% to $4.17 million from $3.82 million, while its six-month sales rose 24% to $57.7 million from $46.6 million.
