Nursing-Home Sale Discussed Creditors of Care Enterprises, a Tustin-based nursing-home chain, are negotiating the sale of 12 homes to a Columbus, Ohio, company. Richard Havel, lawyer for a committee of the unsecured creditors of Care Enterprises, which is reorganizing under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, said Friday that sale of four nursing homes in New Mexico and eight in Ohio to Ralph Hazelbaker is contingent on settlement of a lawsuit Hazelbaker filed against Care. Havel would not disclose the price that Hazelbaker has agreed to pay for the nursing homes. He said that the settlement could fall through if Care Enterprises can find someone else willing to make a higher bid. Hazelbaker could not be reached for comment.
