Bakersfield 24, Canyon 14--Chad Provensal rushed for 183 yards in 18 carries and two touchdowns and Kevin Parks came up with a clutch interception with one minute remaining at Bakersfield to hand Canyon its second consecutive loss.
The Drillers built a 21-7 lead at halftime and opened their biggest lead, 24-7, after Matt Ornelaz kicked a 23-yard field goal in the third quarter.
Canyon could manage only one second-half touchdown, a 10-yard pass from Tim Beidle to Clint Beauer. Beidle set a school passing yardage record, completing 22 of 38 passes for 327 yards. He threw two touchdown passes and two interceptions. Beauer caught 12 of the passes for 215 yards. Canyon netted two yards rushing in 16 carries.
