Newbury Park 7, Ventura 7--Ventura’s Mike Flores, who had three interceptions, broke a scoreless tie with a 65-yard interception return for a third-quarter touchdown at Ventura.

Newbury Park (1-0-1) took the ensuing kickoff and drove 80 yards in 10 plays to score on an 11-yard pass from Jai Johnston to tight end Matt Merrill. Johnston hit Brian Smith with a 43-yard pass to key the drive.
