Miraleste 6, L.A. Baptist 5--Tailback Dan Sarner scored the game’s only touchdown on a 59-yard punt return with 9:17 left at Miraleste. L. A. Baptist (1-1), which gained only 80 yards in total offense, took a 2-0 lead in the first quarter when Miraleste quarterback Steve Cooper was tackled in the end zone after an errant center snap sailed over his head. Kurt Rayners booted a 32-yard field goal with 25 seconds left for a 5-0 lead.
