The Rev. Robert H. Schuller will preside over ground-breaking ceremonies today for a $5.5-million stainless steel spire that will rise alongside his Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove. The 233-foot spire will house a chapel and a 52-bell carillon to be named after Schuller’s wife, Arvella. The spire is being paid for with donations from Schuller’s 10,000-member congregation and the 4 million people worldwide who watch his “Hour of Power” television show.
