Local : House, Brush Fire in Agua Dulce

A fire caused $250,000 damage to an Agua Dulce home this morning and embers blown by strong winds touched off a small brush fire nearby, the Los Angeles County Fire Department reported.
The 3 a.m. fire fully engulfed the unoccupied two-story home in the 7800 block of West Thomas Road and it took firefighters about an hour to contain the blaze, said Capt. Robert Cantrell. No firefighters were injured. The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
Because of 30- to 40-m.p.h. winds in the area, extra firefighters were called in to keep the blaze from spreading. They were able to put out the brush fire after less than a quarter-acre burned, Cantrell said.
