4-A GIRLS : Ruiz, Kennedy Cruise Past El Modena

Valerie Ruiz scored 34 points and had 11 steals as Kennedy defeated El Modena, 77-39, in a 4-A girls’ playoff game Wednesday night at Kennedy.
Michelle Harris added 17 points, 11 steals and six assists for Kennedy (15-10). Kathy Farina scored 14 points to lead El Modena (7-14).
Katella 52, Garden Grove 44--Katella (10-15) defeated the Argonauts (11-12) at Katella.
Cypress 67, La Mirada 44--Host Cypress raised its record to 16-9.
Redondo 53, Fullerton 47--Redondo (8-14), an at-large entry, defeated Fullerton (16-6), the second-place team from the Freeway League.
