COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Lyles’ 15 Kills Get Orange Coast Past Grossmont in Volleyball

Matt Lyles had 15 kills to lead Orange Coast College to a victory over Grossmont in a South Coast Conference men’s volleyball match Wednesday at Grossmont.
Craig Buccola had 14 kills for OCC, which won, 15-7, 15-7, 14-16, 15-6. The Pirates improved to 2-0 overall and in conference.
In nonconference baseball:
Los Angeles Valley 6, Orange Coast 5--Host L.A. Valley scored two runs in the ninth inning on a single and sacrifice fly. Orange Coast College (4-5) was led by Mike Van Blaricon, who had three hits.

Orange Coast 9, San Bernardino Valley 2--Nancy Johnson hit a home run for Orange Coast (4-0) at home. OCC had a season-high 17 hits.
Cerritos 2, Saddleback 0--Denele Drulias (2-1) threw a three-hitter, walked two and struck out eight to lead Cerritos (5-2-1) past host Saddleback. Danielle Heer singled, doubled and walked for Saddleback (3-5).
In nonconference men’s tennis:
Fullerton 7, Mt. San Antonio 2--Fullerton won five of six singles matches and two of three doubles matches in its first match of the season, at Mt. San Antonio.
