Schaefer Says She’ll Run Again for Supervisor

Ventura County Supervisor Madge Schaefer of Thousand Oaks has announced that she will run for reelection.
Schaefer, who is chairwoman of the Board of Supervisors, said the board is in a much better position than it was in 1986, when she was first elected.
“For the first two years, there was nothing but bad news and we were cutting budgets,” Schaefer said. “We’re in a better place this year.”
Schaefer said she will work to keep county finances healthy in part by pursuing state and federal grants to pay for expanding programs. Schaefer served as a city councilwoman in Thousand Oaks from 1978 to 1986.
Schaefer’s term ends in January, 1991. She will be on the November ballot with Supervisor Jim Dougherty, who also is seeking reelection.
