VanEmbricqs Leads UCLA Women

Sandra VanEmbricqs scored 22 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead the UCLA women’s basketball team to a 79-65 Pacific 10 Conference victory over Oregon Friday night at Pauley Pavilion.
The win moved the Bruins (15-9, 10-4) into sole possession of third place and one step closer to their first NCAA tournament appearance since the 1984-85 season.
Michele Wootton, with 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Rehema Stephens, with 12 points, also contributed to the victory.
Oregon (16-8, 8-5) was led by Staci Wallenborn, who had 16 points.
USC 64, Oregon State 49--Molly Wampler scored a career-high 16 points in leading the Trojans over the Beavers at Lyon Center.
It was the third consecutive victory for the Trojans (7-16, 5-9). The Beavers are 6-21 and 1-12.
Wampler, a junior forward, also had 17 rebounds. A pair of freshmen also contributed as Kim Gessig had 12 points and Joni Esterly scored 11.
