COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Vigo, Shockey Spur CSUN to Baseball Win

Denny Vigo and Greg Shockey each had three hits to lead Cal State Northridge to an 8-6 nonconference baseball victory over University of the Pacific on Friday night in Stockton.
Sophomore right-hander Craig Clayton (6-3) went the distance and allowed 11 hits, striking out nine, walking four and allowing five earned runs. He also was two for four.
In another baseball game:
The Master’s 8, Pacific University (Ore.) 6--Freshman starter Sam Minyard earned the first win of his collegiate career in a nonconference game at Master’s that was shortened to seven innings by prior agreement of the coaches.
Andy Martin had a pinch-hit, two-run single in the sixth inning to provide the winning run for Master’s (12-13).
SOFTBALL
Bakersfield tournament--Cal Lutheran lost its opener to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, 6-2, and the afternoon game to Cal State Hayward, 5-4, at Bakersfield College.
Trailing, 4-2, in the second game, Cal Lutheran (12-8-2) scored a run in the bottom of the seventh and loaded the bases with two out. But cleanup hitter DeeAndra Pilkington flied out to end the game.
Moorpark 8, Bakersfield 1--Freshman right-hander Robin Thomas (12-2) had three hits and pitched a seven-hitter in a Western State Conference game at Bakersfield.
WOMEN’S TENNIS
Cal State Northridge 6, Cal State Sacramento 3--Cathy Teobaldi won easily at No. 1 singles and combined with Allison Kincaid to win in three sets at No. 1 doubles in a nonconference match at Northridge.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Pierce d. Long Beach City, 15-8, 15-8, 15-4--Edward Gilson had 18 put-aways and Chad Blatchley 15 to lead Pierce (11-2) to a Western State Conference win at Long Beach.
