As a black woman in the radio industry, I was disappointed by the omission of minority and female radio talent in Claudia Puig’s April 22 article “Gee, the Voice Is Familiar.”
A informal poll of deejays at KGFJ reveals there are several female and minority personalities--LaRita Shelby, Licia Shearer and J.L/Jorge Martinez--who are successfully balancing TV and radio careers.
Despite Puig’s uneven reporting, women and minorities are participants in the American experience and the TV-radio boom.
