LONG BEACH — Long Beach City College is one of 10 community colleges in the nation selected to participate in an educational partnership with Apple Computer.
The partnership grants each college $100,000 in computer equipment and two years to implement an aspect of computerized education in which it will be a national leader, sharing its materials with other colleges.
Long Beach City College, using a software program called Hypercard, will develop state-of-the-art student learning labs at eight existing centers throughout the college.
Hypercard is described as more effective than traditional library or computer learning because it can combine sound, color and motion to hold a student’s attention and increase learning speed and retention of information.
