Grammy winner Harry Nilsson, who sang the theme from the Academy Award-winning film “Midnight Cowboy,” has been charged with drunken driving.
Tuesday’s arraignment for Nilsson was continued to Aug. 30 in Municipal Court.
Nilsson, 49, of Bel-Air was stopped by the California Highway Patrol at 3:40 a.m. July 6 on Palm Drive, authorities said. Tests put his blood alcohol level at .23 or .24, three times the legal limit of .08, Deputy Dist. Atty. Elden Fox said in a statement.
Nilsson, whose real name is Harry Edward Nelson III, was charged with two misdemeanor counts of drunken driving and one of driving without proper insurance.
