Kemper Corp.: The Long Grove, Ill., insurance company reported a second-quarter loss of $111.2 million, contrasted with a profit from continuing operations of $54.4 million in the same period of 1989. Revenue rose 12% to $757.9 million. The current quarter’s results include after-tax charges of $161.1 million for restructuring and a previously announced arbitration panel award. Without the charges, the company would have made a profit of $49.9 million during the quarter.
