Procter & Gamble Files Satanism Suit: The Cincinnati-based consumer products company said it sued a southeast Kansas couple for allegedly spreading rumors--which it has denied for years--that the company was associated with satanism. The suit alleges that James and Linda Newton of Parsons have made libelous and malicious statements about Procter & Gamble by saying it supports “the church of Satan.” The suit also alleges that the Newtons said in a circular that the moon and stars trademark is a satanic symbol. The company is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is asking the court to order the Newtons to stop circulating the stories. Mrs. Newton, reached at her home, declined to comment.
